PRE-ELECTION MESSAGE OF BP. CRISPIN VARQUEZ

Catholic doctrine is consistent in emphasizing the precious value of human LIFE- fruit of a holy Christian marriage and nurtured in the family. And on this inalienable value of life are founded all the other rights– including environmental rights, etc.

Worldly power and wealth are temporary- they come and go. Each person’s life and relationships are more important than money, pride, and power. Good relationship should not be sacrificed for what is temporary.

When we vote, let us vote according to the dictate of our conscience. I suggest that we, as one Filipino people and as Estehanon Catholics, wherever we are, (and if possible, gathered together in our churches), should pray fervently- from 7AM to 7PM- before and after we cast our votes this coming Monday, May 13.

Let us turn to God and allow Him to intervene in our country’s electoral process. He alone is our sure hope and help.
